Updates to Subsdy
I've been working on improving Subsdy over the last few weeks and will continue to do so in the following months. There are a few things in the pipeline that I think are really going to help applicants find good grants, such as a chat-based agent mode and also support for proposal writing. These are not live yet, but are going to come soon.
Last week, I made improvements that are already live on Subsdy:
- Reasoning: Advanced reasoning for all AI Grant matches that has dramatically improved the quality of the matches and the scoring.
- Filters: You can now filter by the time when the matching occurred. So, if you match again today, then you can just filter by the last 24 hours and it will only show you the newest matches, instead of showing you all your existing matches.
- Details: The information pages for every grant now allow you to copy everything as markdown, in case you want to use it for an LLM. There is also an "open" or "closed" indicator for each grant and you can find the update log at the bottom to check if this grant has recently been updated by the EU.
Tip: Always create a draft early!
One extremely underrated tip that I keep reminding applicants of is to always create a draft in the funding and tenders portal once you're interested in a grant. You should do this as soon as you set your eyes on the grant, even if you have not prepared anything yet, because as soon as you create a draft, you will receive notifications from the EU if anything changes. If a deadline changes, then you'll receive an email, but you do not receive an email if you wait until the last minute to do the submission.
Prepare the submission on day one, so that you are notified of everything.

These tips are not only useful for European startups, professional writers, consultants and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) but are generally recommended when writing a business plan or investor documents.
Deadlines: Post-Horizon 2020, the EIC Accelerator accepts Step 1 submissions now while the deadlines for the full applications (Step 2) under Horizon Europe are listed below. The Step 1 applications must be submitted weeks in advance of Step 2. The next EIC Accelerator cut-off for Step 2 (full proposal) can be found here. After Brexit, UK companies can still apply to the EIC Accelerator under Horizon Europe albeit with non-dilutive grant applications only - thereby excluding equity-financing. Switzerland has resumed its participation in Horizon Europe and is now eligible for the EIC Accelerator.
